Empowered to give: Abundance, Grace, and Investment

cross
God has given abundantly to us
As believers, we experience God’s abundant blessings out of His great riches. Jesus left the splendour and riches of heaven and as a man He became poor — so that we can become rich! (1 Corinthians 8:9)
invested
God has invested in us
God invests in us as his servants. He provides us with everything we have, and he wants us to be good stewards with what he has given us. “From the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked” (Luke 12:48b). How are we using God’s investment in us to build in His Kingdom? (Matthew 6:33)
growth
God wants us to grow in the grace of giving
Financial generosity is part of demonstrating that our love for God and for others is sincere (1 Corinthians 8:8). Just as we want to be growing as disciples of Jesus in other areas of our lives, Paul also urges Christians to grow — in fact, to excel — in the grace of giving (1 Corinthians 8:7). Where we invest our time and money can a lot about our priorities (Luke 12:34).
God gives
God blesses and entrusts us with everything we have

“But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.” (1 Chronicles 29:14)

Believers gives
God cares for our needs: ther efore, we can be g enerous without worry

“Freely you have received; freely give.” (Matthew 10:8b)

“You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion.” (2 Corinthians 9:11a)

People give praise
As believers generously give, we are part of building and supporting God’s Kingdom and bringing him glory. Our actions and attitudes result in praise to God.

“This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else.” (2 Corinthians 9:12–13)
