Mat and Shannon

Mat and Shannon and their four children Beth, Peter, Caleb and Samuel have served in Outback Australia since 2018.

In 2026 they moved to Darwin from Kalkarindji and are looking forward to continually connecting with remote faith communities and team members from their new base.

Mat currently serves as the Baptist Mission Australia Outback Team Leader, supporting team growth and encouragement. Throughout the year he visits each remote community he has been walking alongside, exploring and developing leadership training for the followers of Jesus in these areas.

Shannon currently serves as a chaplain at one of the local schools. She enjoys engaging with local friends from remote areas whenever they are visiting Darwin and looks forward to supporting team meeting and events.

Training camps, leadership gatherings and one-on-one discipleship are all staples of Mat and Shannon’s work, as they grow in relationship with those they serve in Outback Australia.

Through living alongside First Nations people, learning from each other and growing in their obedience to God and His word, Mat and Shannon are passionate about seeing vibrant faith communities following Jesus in their own distinctive ways.
